Success Stories:
A stronger School in PortLoko District
In one small village school in Karene District, many students had stopped attending because the building was old and didn’t have enough desks or books. MAP stepped in to fix the classrooms and provide textbooks. A 14-year-old student named Alie said, “Now I can sit at a proper desk, and I have new books that make learning fun.” Attendance went up, and many students started doing better on exams.
Mariama’s Journey to Stay in School:
- Mariama, a bright 13-year-old girl, had trouble staying in school because her family struggled with money. With a MAP scholarship, Mariama’s fees were covered. She worked hard, passed her exams, and became a top student in her class. Mariama now dreams of becoming a teacher to help other girls stay in school.
Adult Literacy Changes Ibrahim’s Life:
Ibrahim, a 35-year-old father, never learned to read or write when he was young. He felt left out when he couldn’t read the instructions on medicine bottles or help his children with homework. After attending our adult literacy classes, Ibrahim can now read simple stories and write short notes. He says, “I feel proud of myself, and my children are proud of me too.”
